I collect old vintage bamboo fly rods and recycle the cane blank. I no longer get them free, but the cost is much less than buying new cane blanks and I am not sure that these old blanks aren't built a little better! After all, they have survived 70-100 years. These are not "refinished" vintage bamboo rods. I only recover the cane blank from the rod, by working backwards in the build process. The length is shortened from the bottom up; not wanting to impact the taper of the original blank. This whole recycling process is outlined under "Our Build Process" on this website. The end result is a fine custom bamboo rod that weighs less, is more maneuverable, and cost less. All the components used are the best available and the methods follow those of the old masters. All rods come with a bag and tube. The end product is a custom bamboo rod for between $100 & $225. In addition to my recycled cane rods, I do build bamboo fly rods from new cane. These rods are listed as "DELUXE" in the title. They do cost a little more, due to the increased cost of the cane blanks. However, they are a real bargain at under $325 with bag and tube.

to R. Acker's Custom Bamboo Fly Rod Website. Several years ago I
started to produce custom bamboo rods for fishing the mountains
of North Carolina. The tight small streams in the mountains require
a shorter fly rod to enable the degree of maneuverability needed.
Wanting to fish bamboo, I stated to investigate the expense of the
cane blanks. WOW, was I shocked. Then I looked at the cost of finished
rods. I again was astounded at the expense. Being a vintage lure
collector, I asked my collecting friends about old vintage bamboo
fly rods. Many said they had many in the corner of their garage
they would give me. A light went off in my head and the start of

I
currently have my custom rods in over 30 states in the US and 13
foreign countries. Many customers have returned to purchase additional
rods for themselves or friends. Occasionally I do sell on EBAY to
get more visibility, but I have slowed doing that as the business
grew. I want you to be satisfied, so I have a three(3) day return
policy. If you don't like the rod upon receipt or within the first
three(3) days, you may return it for a full refund minus the shipping
expense. Rod must be returned in the same condition it was sent.
You are only risking the return postage.
